PRIMGHAR—A 61-year-old Primghar man faces more charges after his initial arrest about 8:40 p.m. Monday, Aug. 15, on O’Brien County warrants.
The additional charges against James Duane McClain stemmed from his arrest on warrants for fifth-degree theft and second-degree criminal mischief, according to the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office.
While McClain was retrieving property within his residence at 255 Second St. SE in Primghar, a deputy observed a metal marijuana pipe in his bedroom.
Substance inside the pipe tested positive for marijuana, according to the incident report.
The deputy then obtained a search warrant for the rest of McClain’s residence.
The search located a pill bottle in the living room that contained multiple baggies, including one that contained a substance that tested positive for methamphetamine. A black and red container in the garage was found to have a wax substance that tested positive for marijuana.
McClain then was further charged with second-offense possession of a controlled substance — methamphetamine, second-offense possession of a controlled substance — marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The theft and criminal mischief charges stemmed from incidents on July 10 when two witnesses stated McClain took a small Weber grill they owned and that he intentionally backed his 1984 Datsun Maxima into another man’s pickup in Sheldon.
